I have a fantastic story of philanthropy amongst our ranks. A couple of weeks ago I was visiting my local gun store here and the owner advised me that a local SFC in the Army stationed here was needing an undercover BP vest to wear when he was on duty with our Sheriff's Reserve Unit. I replied I would do what I could. So I advertised the need here in our online community for these vests. 2 weeks later Big Daddy .45acp (aka Scott) sent me a mint condition, Safariland III-A vest with front trauma plate for the SFC. I didn't think about video taping or doing a press release on it til after the fact, but I called the Sgt. and advised him I had it. I presented it to him in front of his troops 2 days ago and he was shocked ! When he asked why this was done, I explained to him that both Scott and I were both former Army MP's, that we wanted to take care of "1 of our own". He was speechless ! So to Scott aka Big Daddy .45acp you have done a wonderful thing and you deserve to be recognized for your actions. If we had any kind of award you would be deserving of it. Unfortunately, all I have to offer you is a heartfelt and sincere "thanks". Take care and God Bless, Ruffin. It just so happened that a person who I know (through the forums and his reputation) had a need and I was able to help out. If it had not been for the Budweisers and Linguica (Portuguese Sausage) I may not have outgrown that vest and just ignored Ruffin's posting. All I did was what I would expect anyone else to do in a similar situation. If I needed help and I or someone asked for me, I only hope that they would reciprocate. Now, my only wish is that SFC Jones, never needs that vest. Back to top LuVonda Member Joined: 05 Jun 2007 Posts: 100 Location: Heber Springs, AR.
