Any BEAs here from the ElPaso area? I may have one down there soon. Not a huge bond, misdemeanor. Im not sure on the reading of Texas law on how we can extradite him back? It kinda reads like CA law to me, but Im not sure. Any help on that would be appreciated as well. MO wont extradite, but I have a waiver signed at the time of the bond, so I will come get him if possible.

Any help and anyone in that area that may be interested, please speak up!!

Did you ever have any luck with this Andy?

Well, kinda sorta. Im tired of jumping thru hoops.

I was assured by the PI I hired that he could make the arrest and take him before a magistrate and he would be held until I picked him up. I sent the PI all the info and he called and said he had him under surveilence. But, when he called the jail before apprehension, they said they couldnt do it without a "judges order" which we call writ of HC. Also, he said the jail told him there was a new law that bondsman can no longer transport over state lines. If so, Ive broken the law twice in the last two weeks. BS.

Anyway, I hired an attorney to try and get me a writ. This particular judge sucks. We dont get along at all, he hates bondsmen. We got this damned blizzard and the courts were closed today. So, I will see if I get my writ on Monday and if so if Texas will honor it. If not, I dont know what Im going to try next. Hes there for the taking. Im not going to snatch and run. Not worth the risk.

I guess maybe try to send the PI over to talk him into coming back peacefully? I dont know. Frustrating as hell. Im trying my level best to operate within the law. Some states just dont want to work with you. Im glad the PI is at least calling and checking and not getting me into any legal messes.....

Thanks Daron. I hadnt heard back from you and its a pretty small bond for doing that much traveling. I dont know. Im tempted to put Texas on our do not bond list we give to agents. We cant keep a local from runnin there, but no more Texans for this company. That sucks.

I tend to have that same rule, Andy. Not because we can't get them, just because most of the bonds are small and not worth the trip. They are usually under $1000 for a DUI or some such traffic charge. They don't consider it important enough to come back to court and know that they won't be extradited on a misdemeanor warrant. If they don't have full collateral, I turn them down.
