Hi All, Just wanted to stop by and say hi, I will be taking the 80 hour class here in Las Vegas in a few weeks and jumping through the legalities Nevada has to become a BEA. I am new to the website and hope to be posting more seeking advice, tips and networking. Thanks to the Fugitive Recovery Network for a great site. Troy Jones Las Vegas

Nevada has always been friendly to us as outside agents coming in for skips, but I may be contacting you if we or any of our other bond or bail enforcement agents need help. It is also the only state that I have found that requires BEA's to undergo and pass a psychological/psychiatriac (spelling) evaluation prior to licensing its own state agents. I am curious as to what this consists of. Can you fill us in on what they really ask and require? |

Sounds like the Nevada requirements to be a licensed BEA are pretty tough. 80 hour class and a psychological evaluation? I guess that's a good thing though... I'm still surprised there's states out there with no requirements/license structure at all. |

Thx all for great replies. I honor that. I embrace the opportunity to learn a trade/profession with lots of training ( at a great monetary expense no doubt) because it allows me to be better prepared to do the job, than not knowing anything. Perhaps it separates the wheat from the chaff. I am also encouraged because there seem to be a few who may wish to employ me or a team for some work. I can assure you that I work with the utmost honor and integrity and feel that all deserved to be treated equal, just some make bad decisions in life and must pay the price according to the law. It also allows me to plant the seed of hope in the midst of rehabilitation/incarceration that there is a better life than that of crime. However, we do a job because we are called to a higher standard and are not tolerant of FTA's and fugitive behavior. FYI, I have been accepted into the 2 week class starting in Sept. It's 8 hours/ day for 2 weeks. I used my vacation time to take the class. Unfortunately, the psychological exam, drug testing, fingerprinting and everything else required is also out of pocket. So to make an investment this big, one better pray he/she is successful at this business.

Troy, With your attitude and approach, you will do very well. We practice "Low Impact" fugitive recovery, speak softly, no disrespect or taunting of the defendant, and no attracting of attention to ourselves. In and out, quietly and covertly...Proffessionally! Should the defendant either not respect or respond appropriately, we respond accordingly, but they took us there, we did not initiate the path.
