Maryland is done, we lost our major appeal, and to be truthful, they had their decision made up prior to any testimony. Even testimony that was refuted from different states, contradicting Maryland's judiciary position, was summarily dismissed. They would not allow facts to enter their argument. There are still few bonds around, but not enough to sustain a full time business. What is worse, since no bonds means no hunters, if you were a part time bondsman and needed help, it would be difficult to find an experienced local hunter. My best to all of you, Scott |

Well Scott, California is not far behind. Our bail associations are putting up a fight but, I think the legislators, like in Maryland have already made up their minds. LuVonda, the "people" don't know and don't care. They think it is a "free get out of jail" game. Now if you mean the people as in legislators, they want more programs to run and control. More work and job security for them and bigger budgets. What is happening in California, I am being asked about the proposed leg to do away with bail by lots of people. They are seeing on the news and hearing it from so many different "community orgs" that we have no way to counter it. So, I am already working on a different career. But occasionally I write a couple good large bonds that help pad the retirement account. All I can say is if bail reformed hasn't hit your state yet, it will very soon. |
