Post subject:  Opinions Needed

Hello everyone,

I tried finding this in the archives forum, but all I saw was "Hire Me This", "Looking For Work Here" posts. What type of gear would you bring into the field relating to Walkie Talkies/Radios, flashlight, pepper spray, and handheld tasers. I will someday invest in a M26 Taser, as I have my certification for that, but for a back up handheld taser I have no clue as to which is the most reliable. As for flashlight, I am leaning towards a combination of a minimum of 600 lumens with a on and off strobe effect. Any opinions is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time,

Kyle

It is all right here with a simple search for "GEAR EQUIPMENT" .. I am sure there are many more threads pertaining to your search also .. just put these 3 links up as they were the first ones I found in 10 seconds.

Kyle,
Considering all of the items one could hang off of their own Batman utility belt, I would offer less is more. No sense in chasing someone down with 100 extra pounds of "Stuff" you will probably never use. I would also offer, and this is clearly not for everybody, the consideration that with less equipment you are forced to work harder on your verbal skills and less likely to resort to use of force. Further, when under stress, it is very difficult to safely handle some weaponry, mastering all of it could lead to disaster. There have been cases where people loaded shotguns with a use of force continuum load (Hornets Nest, 00 Rubber Balls, Shot or slug shell, and failed to think of the order in which they cycle and they were very remorseful. You can spend a small fortune in equipment to perform these duties, or you can focus on the actual craft and keep the money in your pocket. Poll the senior members here and ask what they carry and how they dress on apprehensions. I have personally worked with most and know the answers first hand and their is a consensus.

Kyle,

On my person, I travel about as lightly as a body can. I wear a badge around the neck, which is tucked into my shirt 98% of the time and I carry a sidearm (open carry on the hip) when the situation warrants it. I wear jeans, tennies and a t-shirt or sweatshirt unless the environment, or investigation, requires more, or less. Normal street clothes and light gear is the theme, here. Now, don't ask about the small arsenal that may, or may not, be in the truck!
