That should have been done along time ago. It will stop ANY tom dick and harry just walking in and getting a business license and becoming a PI. It will also stop convicted felons from doing PI work.

The bill is currently in the House, and Rep. Howard Sanderford, R-Huntsville is the sponsor. But besides showing him your support for pushing this bill forward, contact your own legislators to let them know you want only the most qualified professionals conducting private investigation in your state.

For a draft of the bill, go to Alabama Investigative System Online. On the lefthand navigation menu, click "Bills" and then "By Sponsor". Search for Rep. Sanderford, select "Get Bills" and look for HB197. Once you've clicked on it, it will highlight. Select "View" in the top right of the site to see it.
