Post subject:  It Happens to the Best of Us

I was burglarized this past weekend, much to my chagrin. I was in the habit of keeping all of my gear together in a kit bag or "jump" bag in the back of my p/u truck, along with assorted weapons and accessories.

Sometime between this past Sat night and early this morning someone relieved me of my customized Remington 870 super magnum 12 ga shotgun.

They simply busted out the camper shell door and reached in and took it. They left everything else..fortunately. So of course I file a stolen weapons report, full description, serial #, etc. Even though we all know it's useless to do so.

That shotgun is a 1 of a kind...it's long gone from here and the chances of getting it back are zilch.

So now I am out $800.00 for the shotgun and app. $300.00 for a new rear windshield.

I hate being stolen from...it really sucks.

I live in a fairly safe place (right across the street from the Sheiff's Dept.) and I always unload my utility bag everytime I get home just for this same reason so, I leave all temptation up to someone elses vehicle. My thought is that if you leave enough cheese the rats will feast.

Ruffin I know how you feel--the second day i moved here from ny I took my son to a movie in manchester NH during the day. when i came out the d/s window was smashed in my truck and my radar detector was gone--years in ny no problem move to nh get robbed--

some advice from a gun freak if you replace the weapon look at the bennilli nova pump-I think you will like it better than the 870 --I sold mine to lance after I bought the bennilli m3 convertible

Oddly enough, I already have a winchester model 1300 9-shot pump on lay-a-way at my local gun store.

It's used, all factory stuff, wont need much customizing and its alot lighter in weight than the 870.

Also, this past weekend we had 1 of our quarterly gun shows. I met a vendor from a major city who is also a gunsmith and he does most of the pd customizing for some of the smaller pd's south of me...so he claims. But anyway, on his table he had a customized, stainless steel, 9 shot 20" Remington 1100, with rifled night sights for $800.00.

I will probably pick 1 of these up after the first of the year.

Take care and God Bless,

All of my equipment is in a bag that rests beside the door. When we're called out I just grab it and exit. I never leave anything in my car to tempt a passerby.

Sorry about your loss.

Post subject:  rem 1100

I believe that autos will not operate with most less lethal loads --I know the 1100 will not--thats why i got the benilli m3 convertible --it functions either as a pump or semi auto - it is also set with night rifle sights( ghost ring style) 7 round capacity mag black synthetic stock and forearm--love the shotgun--it shoots slugs into 3 inches at 125 yards and patterns oo buck like a champ--the only downside is it is a little heavy at 7.8 lbs--we also installed a rail for a streamlight m6 combo flash lite and laser on the mag tube

The 1100 wont handle non-lethal rounds ? That sucks. what do the tactical Benelli's run ?

Post subject:  semi auto shotguns

rem 1100 - 1147 are gas operated semi autos-non lethal ammo does not have the power to operate the semi auto system--rem 870 and bennilli nova - mossberg 500 plus many others are pump operated--they use people power to operate the action

the bennilli M3 tactical is either recoil operated semi auto or pump action-all it takes is a flick of a lever--so even if the loads are low power you can operate the shotgun by pump

Post subject:  win 1300

Max the win 1300 is a pump action shotgun so it can shoot any load it is chambered for---the problem is that semi autos shotguns ie rem 1100, 1147 ,1187, browning 5, winchester sx2 , benelli m1 , m2, m4 plus many other are gas or recoil operated and most less lethal rounds do not have the power to cycle their actions--all pump action are man powered so it does not matter how powerful the shell is
