As a State Constable I made an official request through the Sheriff's Office, Pasco County advised that they assigned a detective to it but it's been a week and they still have not visited the address I gave them, I'm hoping the skip hasn't already moved on. |

I have worked in the area for ten years. LE is not real bail agent friendly and generally will not help with arresting a fugitive, unless you know a deputy who is no duty and working in the specific area. We had a problem with some bondsmen down here overstepping their athority a few years ago and PCSO hasn't forgotten it yet. They were all prosecuted and it was a big issue for some time. If you don't get the desired result from the local guy you contacted, let us know. We can handle it for you. |

Edited... after having a conversation with Ruffin I may stand to be corrected. Ruffin I know that you go to Florida but, is it exactly legal for you to do this unless you are the Bondsman or Surety for that Bail Bond? I cut and pasted the law from the directory here on this web site as it relates to Bounty Hunters, unless it has been changed as it pertains to Bounty Hunters, it is pretty cut and dry. Maybe baildoc could clarify or confirm the law in Florida for us. 10. Bounty Hunter Provisions. Florida does not allow bounty hunters. Apprehension of bail fugitives is only allowed as set forth in FS 648.30(2)&(3): (2) No person shall represent himself or herself to be a bail enforcement agent, bounty hunter, or other similar title in [Florida]. (3) No person, other than a certified law enforcement officer, shall be authorized to apprehend, detain, or arrest a principal on a bond, wherever issued, unless that person is qualified, licensed, and appointed as provided in this chapter or licensed as a bail bond agent by the state where the bond was written. Violation of this is a 3rd class felony. [FS 648.30(4)]. |

Florida is sometimes a tough place to operate, I've made several recoveries there in the past but I was licensed as a bondsman in the state where the bond was written (PA), my suggestion to anyone who is not licensed pursuant to Florida law is that you do your best to confirm the skips location and call the police to do the pick up, as long as we get paid it doesn't matter who slaps the cuffs on. |

Chuck; Excellent advice! I went to West Palm Beach once (1999) and even though I am also licensed as a Bail Bondsman (here in Texas), I was arrested. To make a LONG (EXPENSIVE) STORY short, as I was briefing LE on my Skip, they observed a "Bail Enforcement Agent" badge in my briefcase. Just having that badge in my possession is a FELONY in the State of Florida. |
