For the last several days I've been burning the candle at both ends. On the road night and day, eating fast foods, no rest, etc etc etc. Thought I was getting it done. Turns out I'm now beat and don't have the energy to keep up with my other cases. They will have to wait a few days.

I posted this only to remind all that tend not to pace themselves (like me) especially when you get up in age that going all out, hard as you can go and not looking back can sometimes cause you to be less productive.

I'm sure all of you know that, but if you're like me, you get caught up in the chases and forget and then you're in the bed.

Take care

Rest easy, Bill. The cases will be there when your back on your feet. Sound advice as well.

Well, I'm pushing 70 and I can tell ya that I ain't the tough guy I thought I was a few years ago... example... I love to hunt and walk in the woods... forget chasin' bad guys... just a brisk walk in the woods... I used to have a couple of tree stands that I would strap on and walk in a few hundred yards or more, climb a tree, maybe get a deer .... skin him out in the woods and drag him back to my pickup... well guess what... ain't happenin' anymore... so I bought me a nice ATV and yes, another tree stand.... didn't have to walk the tree stand into the woods now and in fact I can get really deep in the woods but guess what... (Gail told me so but I wouldn't listen)... when I started up the tree with the stand... I got about 6 feet off the ground and my legs cramped up... my back started hurting and I started breathing hard.... (almost like... uh... never mind..  .)... it took me about 30 minutes to get up the tree about 12 feet and I was soaked... of course I went to sleep in about 10 minutes so I have no idea if a deer came by or not...

Moral of the story.... as Josey Wales said.... "a man's got to know his limitations"... I am quickly discovering mine.

Rest well Bill, you sound like me... I just don't want to give up just yet... I will not admit it to Gail but deep down inside... I may just take the camo chair and sit on the ground.... maybe just get a little blind to sit in... and the tree stand just may go to my son... or grandson... but no just yet.... same with my Harley.. I just am not ready to give it up.... hang in there Bill, we both are trying to hang on for a few more years....

There's nothin' sorry'er than an old man trying to hang on to youth... but it sure is fun!!

Thanks,Tom, I'll be good to go soon! Hopefully in a day or so.

I got in this business late in life and have done pretty well over the years but the last couple years have been tough. If I don't pace myself, I'm out for a couple days. Bill, I never chase em over 15 yards or so, if I haven't got em by then I go to plan B, always have a plan B, and they never I mean never get away for long. (not bragging)

I spend a ton of time planning and setting up my skip before actually getting on the road. Maybe that's why I really don't find the action some talk about. My plan is to always get them before they realize I'm even near them. It doesn't always work but it works almost always. There have been some times that I wasn't sure I was going home but those are few and far between. (stay out of Sumter SC!!!)

It's the long trips that wear my butt out. I can go and go on local stuff but the trips are what really get to me, physically and mentally.

There are a few stories in this post for anybody starting out or thinking about it.

Take care

I stay in my own back yard with-in 150 miles. I know this area like a book and can find you if you crawl under a rock. When i take something out of my area i pick up the phone and use my network. I don't do any physical rearrests any more i let my son do it, i just gather up intel.

David, just because I get worn out from time to time doesn't mean I'm staying in my backyard. I just take a couple days off and good to go. Maybe one day I'll go your route, but not anytime soon, I hope :)
