NC Senate Bill 756 Passed the Senate. An act to ammend the state's Bail Laws with regard to pretrial release programs, to eliminate unsecured appearance bond as a pretrial release condition, to ammend house arrest and electronic monitoring as a condition of pretrial release, and to provide that no state funds may be appropriated to or used for the support of a pretrial release program. Still has to pass the house but we've gotten this far and no reason to think this can't pass the house. Our Association is the greatest along with our Bail PAC....We truly need a Nationwide Association. If we work together with one voice we can make great positive strides in our industry.... One of my first posts here, I mentioned a Brian Shipwash...This guy is working hard to expose Government Funded Pretrial Release for what it really is. Maybe next year if we have another "get-Together "in Vegas or wherever, you could invite this guy to speak. He has worked hard in NC and Florida to show that Government Funded Pretrial Release is a scam...Did I say scam? Yep, a scam on the taxpayers of this country. Shipwash can Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk with anyone on this subject. |

Bill That is fantastic and great news for our industry. I am happy that some states are growing some balls and putting the victim first before the defendant. It is when we lose sight of this concept that we lose control of the errant members of society who learn quickly when there is no penalty for their actions. Scott |

Bill, I was going to call and ask if you had gotten that e-mail yet. The way it reads is great!!!!!! I may have read into something that wasn't there, but do you think Bail Bondsman might get in on the electronic monitoring if unsecured. Maybe just wishful thinking on making an extra buck. |
