I am a BEA in South Carolina and I am just wondering if there are many other states that will only let you do pickups for one bail bondsmen. You cant do pickups for anybody else and you also can't do pickup directly for the insurance companies.
WHY IS THIS?
With the skills we have and resources such as cell traces and such why wouldn't they want us to have more work.
I say this because today I had three bondsmen unable to give me 5 warrants on a sex offender who I already had lined up to be picked up because my license was not with them. And all this came because another runner (recovery agent) wanted to get the job as he was licensed with one of the bondsmen.
But the fact of the matter is that he does not possess the skill or have the contacts to catch this guy.
And there we have it a sex offender who sexually assaulted a 4 year old girl stays on the run because of politics.

STUPID RULE

It's not like we are catching good guys

Are you a bail bondsman, that could help. I am a bail bondman in NC and the laws in both states are very closely worded. Contact the bail association and the DOI. if you would would like info. on how we are able to do pick-ups in NC just e-mail or call and we will discuss it. It may or may not help. Also, I can give you the name of a board member on the association that could lead you in the right direction. Good luck

In California, we can, and some do, work directly for a surety. Often a good investigator will be hired to audit and clean up a bond company's files for the surety.

As long as you operate in a state you and the bail bond insurance company are licensed in I do not see why you could not work for them.
