Being a brand new bail agent, I just would like to know if putting out the money and joining PBUS is something that is highly recommended? What are the benefits to joining? I read the site, but would like to hear opinions before I spend the money.

Thanks!

A lot of folks have left PBUS because of the use of The Dog for two yrs running. You will get some feed back on this from members as well as ex-members

Well,

3 or 4 years ago they made their first appearance at the PBUS convention in Las Vegas. Just a photo op. The next year beth was a featured speaker. The room was packed, SRO.

That is when she called me a weasel in defense of doggie going to Mexico after Andrew Luster, when I questioned them about it. After that I resigned my membership.

Also, at that time the president, Linda Braswell told me directly that they would not be invited back.

So, after 3 years of friendly prodding by one of the PBUS board members, this past August, I "re joined" the PBUS as a member. Low and behold, last month I get their convention newsletter and guess who is coming back?

Now, I will say that I made many good bail agent contacts at those conventions. I even met in the living flesh, Sir Scott! The networking is great if you take advantage of it. Also, many of the sessions are very informative.

However, in my opinion, the doggie sessions are nothing but a big suck up to a celebrity love fest.

So, our state bail agents association usually holds its Feb. board meeting in LV during the PBUS convention. This will be the first board meeting in 10 years that I will miss because I refuse be in the same city, let alone the same building with that bunch!
