Why is it that every time I tell people what I do their first response is always .. Oh like Dog? It doesn't matter how I word it or what title I use it seems everyone has the same reaction. and I always end up saying no, not like dog most of us are professional. Is it just me or does everyone have this problem. I find it sad that when people talk about this industry he is always the first thing people think of, has the reputation of this business really come to this. Does anyone know of anything besides this site that I can use to educate people on what this is all about?

I am sure that we all hear that. My response is always the same "No. That is television. I am a real professional." Now that is not to take away from Duane or anyone else but the fact must be faced.....what is seen on TV is not what we experience on a day to day. All we can do is answer the question in a professional manner, perform our duties in a professional manner, and educate others of our industry in the same professional manner.

I tell people bounty hunters are remnants of the old west, I'm just a private contractor...with a very specific set of skills, skills I've acquired over a long career ;).

In all seriousness I have ran into this too - some people think what they see on TV is so cool they bend over backwards to help me, but I remind them it's TV, and this is a very dark and dangerous business. Scott and I stick with we're trained professionals and leave it at that.
