Post subject:  Keeping It Civil In The Forums
I've gone through a few posts on here and some of the more recent ones have been, shall we say, "dicey". I'm tired of seeing bickering and arguing via posts. If I wanted to see that I'd pull up the teenie-boppers playing WOW. Now I am new to this world, but have been in it long enough to know that arguments between agents and bondsmen as well as between other bondsmen and such is just stupid. Why? Because at some point we may need one another to reel in one of our lost sheep.

I'm asking if it's possible to keep the noise down and if something is going to be heated that it's taken outside of the bar and into the street, because it's just cluttering what is otherwise good conversation and sharing of thoughts and ideas. I'm not saying let's all be nice and play in the sandbox but we can at least be civil. What I hate about these internet disputes is that it's over the internet. We can't sit in a bar and talk it out over a pint like good Irish gentlemen (and ladies of course!). So, if we are going to get into a pissing contest can we do it over PMs, E-mail, phones, but not on here?

What if someone from CNN, Fox News, local Media, or prospective clientele and/or those wanting to get into the industry see this? Are we going to look like professionals or are we going to look like a bunch of 18 year-old kids arguing over the amount of experience points we've rightfully earned during our all night WOW sessions. Can we all moderate ourselves so the moderators don't have to come in and proverbially spank us?

If this is not the place for this sort of topic then I apologize and if I am speaking out of place then at least take it for what it's worth. I got into the business due to this site, and met my boss thanks to this site, and have learned a lot from this site, as well as made a lot of friends. So, can we forgo the "how many arrests has one had" and "well you're a G.D. cowboy and I'd never hire you". Everyone has the right to an opinion, but when opinions go into these who is bigger than who? I don't want to post anymore...

I'd rather watch countless hours of America's Top Model while eating Bon-Bons next to my lady.

Thank you all, and I mean this honestly when I say I really want the best for this site and for all of us out there. You've all been good to me, I want us to be good to each other.

Well Ben. Welcome to the Big Boys and Girls House. As the old saying goes "if ya can't run with the Big Dogs then don't get off the porch". In this World . . . there simply comes a time when ones crap has to be called. You see there are ALOT of newcomers here that can be led astray by someone less than savory. Would you rather read about that NewComer in the paper thereby having one more Black eye on the Industry?
We have been around here A LONG time and will be here when others have come and gone. It is our job to keep the room clean, if it gets a bit heated . . . then so be it.

and as far as "certain" types of people reading here . . . OH Yeah they do. and they know that we police our own.

I also suggest that you do a bit more reading here and know who you are talking to and about and our experience.

at that time One wants to KNOW that the person that they have secured for that task is actually capable of performing said task . . . not just some person that spews words on a Forum.

There is a saying in the Marine Corp that the Marines eat their own. This industry is hanging on by a thread in most areas of the country and the politicians are looking for anything that they can use to get traction to remove our industry all together. This has happaned previously by Congressman Asa Hutchinson, who attacked this industry relentlessly, to include congressional hearings because Bounty Hunters broke into a home and robbed and killed people. The point is, 3 days later, he learned that it was not Bounty Hunters, but a rival drug gang, and he did not stop with his attack of this industry.

This will start your research, it is extremely important for you to understand the issues that we face to maintain our industry, and we are our own worst enemies.

We are very protective of our craft and admonish people who push the legal limit and attract attention to themselves, UNAPOLOGETICALLY. For the new guys on here that make side money and not a living, if you lose that side money, no big deal, it is replaceable. For those of us that have been investing and re-investing into our family businesses, that income is not replaceable.When we say that we won't work with somebody, it is because that individual will not accept professional advice designed to protect the industry as a whole.

This is our livelihood and not just a bunch of friends telling lies. That is why this industry web group holds the esteem that it does, we do not tolerate unprofessionalism, proven liars or con men.

Thank you Ben for expressing your concerns about what you have read on the forum, as a member you have that right. However I am not sure that you comprehend the gravity of the bail bond industry as we know it today and the potential mortality it now faces. Our federal and state governments want to regulate the industry right out of business, which would leave a lot of good people in a bad way, and truth be told we have enough in-house fools to help them with that quest. I believe the concept of the forum is for industry professionals such as you and others of similar ilk to share information, experiences, and solutions pertinent to the group as a whole so that we can better conduct business.

Now with that said there are times when an individual most be called out by veteran members because his claims of grandeur and so far adrift from the industry standards that they are impertinent to what we do. There are several reasons why this must be done; first and foremost the industry must be protected from the cowboys, and Dog the Bounty types before we go the way of dinosaurs. For many a member this is their primary source of income, for them this is not some type of thrill seeking adventure… this is real life. Secondly it is done so persons who are new to industry can learn what to expect and how not to fall prey to the less than scrupulous individuals that have populated the industry since the inception of the copious reality shows related to our profession.

Thank you all for responding, I read through the posts and feel a bit more understanding of how things go on the forum. I will definitely check out that website and also read some more of the forums and posts as well. I know that I am still fairly new to the industry but simply wanted to express my concerns. It does speak a lot for this site as well as the members of this site to consider what someone has to say and respond despite how new they are to the field, like myself.
