I was wondering if maybe I could get some answers. I hope its not to much trouble.

on average...how many people are brought in by Bail Agents?

how many crimes are committed a year that warrant large bail?

names of some famous bounties that were brought in by Bail Agents?

What are the "power" differences between a police officer and a Agent?

I hope no one minds me asking these things. Just some stuff I'm curious about. ^_^

Rose,
To your first question, I would refer you to the Congressional Testimony, under oath, during the Asa Hutchins hearings. The answer you seek is there and will surprise you. Many LE Agencies, Sheriff's Associations, and Insurance company representatives testified during those hearings and the percentage testified to was never disputed.

This question is not answerable. Some states have a Bail Schedule while others are largely inconsistent. Bail is not punitive in nature, but a tool to guarantee ones appearance in court. The more ties you have to the community, the lower the bail, generally.

Famous Bounties, would tender the question famous to whom? I have brought people that were listed on the FBI Terrorist Watch list and a Child Molester back from Vietnam through a triple sealed warrant process. There are far too many to name and their individual notoriety may be limited to a local, regional or national level, with some having a National Security Impact and the general public would never know who they are.

The Police Officer is the "Power" that we as citizens all recognize. We do not have more power than a law enforcement officer. We have different abilities. We are neither bound by, or protected by the color of law. We have been granted authority through a Supreme Court Opinion, Taylor Vs. Taintor, it should be some good reading for you.

Best of luck to you...Criminal Justice Major?

Scott
