Post subject:  Does anyone know an airline to fly with restraints?

Hey Everyone.

I am going to San Francisco to grab a defendant of mine that missed court.

In the past, I have flown Continental but now they are giving me a problem saying I cannot fly anyone with restraints unless we are law enforcement. Has anyone recently experienced this?

Can anyone recommend an airline that they have not had problems flying restraints? US Airways, United? I am trying to fly direct from San Fran to Newark NJ.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Have you tried Jet Blue? They use to fly out of SFO to Newark.

Also check with flights out of Oakland and San Jose, they may have more airlines with direct flights to the NY / NJ area.

Otherwise there is always Amtrak.

Tony
Amtrak is prohibitively expensive, I picked up a skip in
Washington State that was afraid to fly, he ended up flying because he
did not like the alternative of a scenic trip through the south!

I had to fly him without restraints, as the captain would not allow it. His call.

Most airlines will not a llow a ind. to be cuffed. It is in case of a emer. or fire. Some airlanes will allow a leg brace(knee) .

Update...No problem at all. No one at the airport really seemed to care. Our defendant did not even have an ID and he was let through. We notified the local police at the airport and they came with us to the airline counter and checked in with us. After that, they help escort us through TSA. We went on first and got off last. Piece of cake.

Typical of the workers at SFO.

Hopefully, the airport SFPD verified your paperwork and warrant info.
