Ok guys, here is the deal from Dan an area manager with Wackenhut.

Up to 12 bucks an hour 70-80 hours a week. Up to 1200 a week with overtime.

-Not great but a good way to donate time and still be able to pay the bills

There are some problems.

MASS CONFUSION at Wackenhut.

No one knows anything of value.

Home office knows nothing saying that everything is being handled by local offices.

Area manager says everything is on hold. He thinks they are still taking apps for Armed but not really sure.

Says no idea what's going on or where deployment is. Says "wheel guns" are being issued and "training" is on-site.

No semi auto's only revolvers. (not sure I'd want to be in that area with a six shooter... and I've got nothing against six shooters, but not as a primary for a situation such as the one that exists there)

Doesn't really know about transportation, not sure if you take your own or if it's a rental car being assigned to some sort of team leader and all members of the team having to use that one vehicle.

They think BDU's are being issued on sight.

12.00 an hour for that mess?? No thanks! Wackenhut is probably charging 30.00 an hour per man.

That is pretty low pay compared to what I was proposed earlier today. A private company is paying $400 a day for armed and $350 a day for unarmed personnel. All accomodations are provided and, you must have a CCW from your home state. I know one guy that flew out today. This is for 12 hour shifts and the percentage for violence is put at 89%.

You can go to www.courtservices.org and sign up.

So lets say you dont have any actual security experience but you have a ccw permit and have weapons training and work as a recovery agent? What are the odds of being chosen to go for the job?

Yes, Wackenhut's deal is not that good, especially for anyone already licensed and with any previous training whatsoever.

Not to mention I was somewhat concerned over the lack of organization. People get hurt in situations like that.

Thanks for the update Bob, I'll fire off a resume to that one too.

Don,
Wackenhut is a large company that will produce bodies they come into a city and under bid everyone to get the job and then run an ad in the newspaper for security people and will hire anyone that can pass a criminal Background. As i said they produce bodies. I would not trust my life to just anyone as a back up. You know the score you were LE you trusted your back-up.

David,

I agree, they did not inspire me with confidence when I spoke to both "mike" in Lousiville, and "dan" out of Indy. You would figure their "CPO" program which requires law enforcment or military training would be different... oh well.

I work for Wackenhut in Boston. My advice is STAY AWAY!!!

Details for NOLA are as follows:

$12/hr for 84 hours a week. $32/diem.
You can only carry company issue revolvers.
You will most likely live in a tent.
Yes, the company has it's head up it's ass.

Pros: Our guys who are working for Sprint are provided with unlimited food, drinks and BEER (off duty).

2 out of the 3 guys we sent down actually have LE experience and one is a FEMA trained 1st responder.

Over all, I find the Company is stuck in the 50's. We have 50 guys guarding banks with NO firearms training and the Bank REFUSES to let our guys carry ANY less lethal devices. No batons or OC.

I risk termination everyday because I REFUSE to carry the company gun.
It prints a 5" "group" at 10 yards and is 6" low and 3" left.

I DEADLINED 3 revolvers and marked them for repair, but our Ops Mgr still issued them to other people!!!

Once something better comes along I am bailing out!

YOU DO NOT WANT TO WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE!!!
